John R McGilligan Was the uncle of John Edward McGilligan Jr who later owned two resorts on the Lake Chippewa Flowage in Hayward Wisconsin. John’s daughter Patricia McGilligan Gavigan said that her father would take a boat to his place on Lake Monona. She said he was a hard drinking man. I think John’s uncle John inspired John Edward to later buy his places on the Destination Chippewa Flowage; Birch Haven Lodge and Baumgartens Resort
John R McGilligan was also the uncle of William McGilligan . “Bill” and family lived on the Madison Lakes. He was probably also inspired by trips to the Lake City House with Uncle John.
